Our Carbon Footprint

ideostone has calculated its carbon footprint using the calculator available on the Carbon Trust website (http://www.carbontrust.co.uk). The carbon footprint of the business is only:

1.81 tonnes of CO2e per annum.

This has been calculated on the basis of six months of trading and pro-rated upwards to give the equivalent of a full year. ideostone is only a small company in the early stages of growth and it is likely that the carbon footprint will grow for a period. Despite this, we are not complacent and will do everything we can to ensure that it is kept as low as possible for as long as possible. The calculation includes employee commute but does not (at this stage) include the embedded carbon in the water supply and the supply of goods and materials to the business. We will amend the calculation as better information becomes available over the coming months.

Commitments to maintain or reduce the carbon footprint

Despite using public transport for the majority of our travel this is the biggest element of the carbon footprint of the business. We will undertake more effective travel planning, including aggregating journeys wherever possible to reduce travel emissions.

In addition, we will consider:

  • changing energy supplier to a fully renewable provider;
  • each business purchase to ensure the embedded carbon and the running costs are as low as possible – “do we really need this; can the business function without it?”
